READING 9.2, “Work, Privacy, and Autonomy”

What is the relationship between autonomy and privacy within the workplace? What kinds of personal information do employees have an obligation to reveal to their employers? What kinds of information do the employers have an obligation to reveal to their employees?

What is Lippke’s main conclusion regarding privacy and autonomy in the workplace? (b) What is the strongest argument Lippke’s offers to support his conclusion? (c) What is best objection against Lippke’s argument? (d1) If you’re convinced by Lippke’s strongest argument, why doesn’t the objection undermine Lippke’s conclusion?

How should Lippke respond? or (d2) If you’re unconvinced by Lippke’s strongest argument, what is Lippke’s best response to the objection? And why do you think the response is unpersuasive?

Lippke maintains that privacy is valuable because of its relation to autonomy and (following Joseph Kupfer) highlights two ways in which privacy contributes to autonomy. Explain the connections between privacy and autonomy. Do you agree that autonomy is the reason privacy is valuable?

Relying on a contractual model of employer-employee relations, some writers like DesJardins and Duska use the concept of job relevance to restrict the information employers may justifiably gather about employees. What are Lippke’s reasons for rejecting this approach? Are you persuaded by his arguments?

Classroom managenent Assessment 2

Developing the positive learning framework offers a continuum of teacher behaviours from pre-class planning to in-class teaching, incorporating how to respond to student behaviour. Grounded in positive psychology the PLF is built on the “Circle of Courage”.

The Circle of Courage developed by Brendtro, Brokenleg and Van Bockern (2002) enables educators to shift the classroom focus of controlling problems to building strengths using the four universal needs of Belonging (Attachment), Mastery (Achievement), Independence (Autonomy) and Generosity (Altruism), identified as vital signs for health and growth.

Discuss and provide specific strategies of how you can develop these four strengths to establish social competence, problem solving ability, autonomy and a sense of purpose to engage motivated as well as reluctant learners in meaningful learning.

Supplement your writing with other theorists who have identified major needs that influence student behaviour who may include Adler (1930), Dreikurs (1957) Glasser (1990) and Kohn (1993).

Does the implementation of Nurse-Initiated Analgesia lead to an improvement in quality of care???

Here is my PICOT QUESTION: PICOT QUESTION
In adult patients with moderate to severe pain presenting to the ER, does the implementation of Nurse-Initiated Analgesia improve quality of care based on indicators such as safety, timeliness of care, and patient satisfaction compared to no intervention at all?

P: Adult patients presenting to the ER with moderate to severe pain.

I: Implementation of Nurse-Initiated Analgesia

C: Compared to no intervention at all

O: Does the implementation of Nurse-Initiated Analgesia lead to an improvement in quality of care???

chose this PICOT question as  experienced my workflow processes delayed during many occurrences due to lack of patient cooperation as a result of patient being in pain. Pain management in the ER is a huge concern that requires improvement. Pain management ultimately influences a patient’s satisfaction regarding provision of care. Pain management delays occur daily within the emergency department impacting quality of care. When a patient presents to the ER for pain, they typically wait an average of 3-4hours or more prior to receiving an analgesic. Patient reports of pain is subjective and each individual has their own level of pain tolerance. As a healthcare provider it is my duty to advocate for my patients. Nurse-initiated analgesia is a possible solution. Will permitting Nurse-initiated analgesia provide nurses Autonomy by means of either a medical directive or a standardized protocol, improve quality of care for patients based on indicators such as safety, timeliness of care, and patient satisfaction compared to no intervention at all?
