Spectrophotometer

Set up your spectrophotometer.

Place the water filled cuvette into the spectrophotometer. Write down this voltage (V1).

Measure the absorbance of solutions (A) and (B) at 600 nm (orange light).

Calculate the extinction coefficient for CrNO3 and CoNO 3 at 600 nm.

Measure the absorbance and transmittance of solutions (A) and (B) at 600 nm (blue-green light). Remember to re-measure the reference sample at this wavelength (as the transmitted intensity will not be the same for 510 as for 600 nm).

Calculate the extinction coefficients for CrNO 3 and CoNO 3 at 510 nm.
