Research Paper Assignment
Your assignment:
For this assignment you will need to select an issue from modules 5 – 7. You will need to complete a research paper on the topic you select so be sure it is one that interests you.
It will be wise to research sample research papers and formatting outlines to obtain an idea of what a research paper looks like. It would also be best to start looking for research on the topic before finalizing which issue you will select for your paper to make sure you are able to find enough current reliable data.
A good research paper includes enough information on an issue without a biased approach. You will need to summarize the thoughts of the authors, as well as tie the essay back to other current research that you have found.
You will need to cite a minimum of three sources, in addition to your textbook. You should use the research you find to present the readers with a general idea or background on the issue, as well as to validate or disprove the writings in the text.
You should also present the advantages and disadvantages of the issue. Keep in mind, this is not a persuasive assignment so you will not need to pick one side and argue for it. You are simply informing your reader on the issue for this assignment.
You will not need to include an abstract but you will be required to include a cover page in APA format.
Limit your paper to 1500-1600 words. You must use APA style; use appropriate grammar and organizational elements to submit your analysis.
You must use a MINIMUM OF THREE outside sources in addition your textbook and cite in APA. Third person and short concise sentences are expected. (the outside sources can come from the internet but academic ones are preferred)
This research paper requires that you gather data published by experts in the field and present your findings in the form of a research paper.
Failure to do so will result in penalties because not giving credit to original authors can be considered a form of plagiarism.
Points regarding citing your sources and giving credit to original authors:
• If you do not have a reference page attached, your paper will not be accepted.
• If you have a reference page attached but ALL of the sources listed are not referenced in your paper at least one time, your paper will not be accepted.
• If you include a reference page but either do not utilize the number of sources required, or do not refer to all the sources on your reference page, there will be a minimum of a 20 pt penalty, or more, or your paper will possibly still not be accepted.
