Was the randomisation method clearly defined?
Sufficient separation between those who randomised and
those who administered the treatment?
Was the individual(s) administrating the treatment blind to
treatment allocation?
Was the participant blind to treatment allocation?
Has there been adequate follow-up?
Has the follow-up period been defined?
How were participants followed-up?
Is there a participant flow diagram outlining the number of
participants screened, recruited, randomised etc.?
Was an appropriate analysis method used? i.e. ITT or per
protocol
Within the scope of the statistical analysis plan, was the
data fully utilised?
How was missing data dealt with?
Are absolute measures considered alongside relative
measures of effect?
Have they presented a measure of uncertainty in the
treatment effect?
Adherence to treatment allocation been presented and
discussed?
What impact would a lack of adherence have on the
results?
