Review state implementation of NCSBN Consensus Model. National Council of State Boards of Nursing. (2018, April 23). APRN consensus implementation status. Retrieved from https://www.ncsbn.org/5397.htm (Links to an external site.)

Review Kentucky Board of Nursing. (2018). RN & APRN Licensure Information. Retrieved from https://kbn.ky.gov/aprnlicenseinfo/Pages/default.aspx (Links to an external site.)

Pay particular attention to: nursing licensure requirements including APRN, nurse practice acts including APRN, scope of practice including APRN, the specifics of the NCSBN Consensus Model, the various sources of regulation, and the role of courts in shaping policy.

Further, pay particular attention to: Understanding Scope of Practice. Scope of Practice is tied to the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which you practice.

For nurses who work for the Veterans Administration, this is a bit different (this is truly the only exception that am aware of).

You must know the Nurse Practice Act in your state and understand that this is legislated.
